Paper Elimination on Campus

Imagine all the forms on your campus could be executed on line. Imagine approving all of your internal correspondence with a secure electronic signature. In 2003, the federal government expects all citizens to be able to interact with government agencies with either paper or digital media. Adobe's Acrobat is well on its way to being the principal product by which government agencies, businesses and educational institutions are achieving the financial benefits of moving towards this "paper elimination" goal. This session will feature Acrobat product demonstrations of electronic forms, electronic signatures, and other attributes that make paper elimination a real possibility today.

"Partnering for eLearning Success"
This session will explore the critical success factors for educational eLearning programs from the planning stages to implementation. Learn the key issues for success from the perspective of both the educational institution and the eLearning Provider.

Dr. Edward Gould, President of San Joaquin Delta College will co-present with Oakleigh Thorne, President and Chairman of the Board, eCollege. Through years of teamwork, they have produced an award-winning elearning program for San Joaquin Delta College, called "Deltaonline". Deltaonline recently received the "Tech Focus Award" from the California Community College's Chancellor's Office.

Dr. Gould will explore the cultivation of an environment for successful program growth, including the identification of direct and indirect costs, the increase of savings in capital investments, the monitoring of class sizes and the negotiation of union contracts and agreements. Most importantly, Dr. Gould will evaluate the advantage of choosing the right outsourced eLearning partner vs. doing an "in-house" program.

Mr. Thorne will explore key business issues, including the management of daily eLearning program operations and the significant costs that are not always foreseeable to those in early program development. Mr. Thorne discusses outsourcing as the choice to lower fixed costs, reduce variability, and offer increased expertise, support and ultimately, long-term eLearning success.
